Calling all family owned business owners!
Let’s connect over coffee! Coffee Connect is where connections are formed, conversations flow, and new possibilities emerge. It's a time when family business owners like yourself can come together and share experiences, knowledge, and insights. It's an opportunity to reconnect with like-minded family businesses and escape from the daily routine. Picture the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and enjoy sharing stories with fellow family business owners.
Organised by Family Business Association, and in collaboration with Business Whangaparaoa, we invite owners of family owned businesses to join us to find out about tools and support available from the Family Business Network and to relax, connect and support one another within our local community.

An invite to local business owners and our community.
Join Business Whangaparaoa, Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste and a group of Coastie business owners for the Green Scheme Showcase and Awards.
Enjoy an evening of networking, celebration, good food and drinks!
Through the Green Scheme, and supported by funding from Auckland Council Climate Grant, we will be celebrating some of our small Coastie businesses who are already taking some actions in their bid to help with climate change issues along with presentations about information and business solutions we have found along the way. We will be awarding Green Scheme Certificates to local businesses taking climate action, showcasing their work and providing information about how you and your business can get involved as well as providing information for our general community and households to be doing their thing too.
Work over the past 10 months will culminate in a panel of these business owners being available for an informal chat about what they are doing and how you can start taking some action in your business too. Climate action doesn't have to mean big changes or expensive changes, every small action counts. So come along, enjoy great networking, and pick up some tips and ideas on how you can do your bit to help our planet in 2024.
If you already take climate action, come along and tell us, so we can celebrate and you too can be eligible to be part of the Green Scheme! If you want to start taking action but need some guidance and support, then this is the place to be.
Particular focus at this event are businesses in the construction, retail, health and beauty, office and hospitality industries but all businesses and community members are welcome as there are many very generic actions you can all take!
If you would like to join us and celebrate these businesses, find out more, let us know what you already do and find out how to do more please register below and we look forward to seeing you there!

Title: Overcome Helplessness and Thrive in Difficult Times
When an elephant trainer starts working with a baby elephant, he or she will use a rope to tie one of the elephant’s legs to a post. The elephant will struggle for hours, even days, trying to escape the rope, but eventually, it will quiet down and accept its limited range of motion (Wu, 2009).
When the elephant grows up and is more than strong enough to break the rope, it doesn’t even try – it’s learned over time that any kind of struggle is useless.
Like the elephants, we learn a lot of our thought patterns and behaviours early on and it can be hard to change our patterns. So, how can we overcome learned helplessness and make sure we are acting in a proactive accountable way to help us stay on top, even in difficult times?
