About the artist ...

Anna Evans and local school children

Anna Evans was born 1983 in England and migrated to NZ as a child in 1994. Annas work has been heavily influenced by the impressions migration first had on her, specifically the intensity and difference of natural occuring colours and shapes to that of her homeland. Being from the typically grey skied Manchester Anna remembers feeling awe struck by the rich and vibrant colours present in sky, sea, flora and fauna. It is these early observations of light, vivid colour, textures and diverse ecosystems that continue to inform Anna Evans’ work.

Anna was commissioned by the Auckland Regional Council to work alongside local school children between 8-18 years to create the mural on the Stanmore Bay changing rooms.

Anna's team included - Tayla McConchie, Samantha Bright, Tyler Greeks, Rose Peddie, Boston Blomfield, Cooper Blomfield, Mia Vourdivis, Nikolees, Quintin, Jordan, Xavier, Punjeesa, Daisy, Ninna, Haques, Sacha, Jamie Halpin, Kezia Sainty, Shevaun, Peta, Sade Davies, Paris Crook, Hannah, Karla Naude, Amanda Naude, Sarah Albom and Mellissa Albom.

The mural won 1st place in the Resene Community Mural Masterpieces competition that year, 2013.

The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) existed from 1989 to 2010 to manage regional issues like parks, transport, and environment across the broader Auckland area, before being merged with seven city/district councils into the single "SuperCity" Auckland Council in 2010.
