About the artist ...
Anna Evans and the Stanmore Bay Mural
Born in England in 1983, Anna Evans moved to NZ as a child in 1994. Her art is heavily inspired by the stark contrast between the grey skies of her native Manchester and New Zealand’s vibrant, naturally occurring colors, light, and diverse ecosystems.
A Community Canvas: Anna was commissioned by the former Auckland Regional Council (ARC) to create the mural on the Stanmore Bay changing rooms, working alongside local school children aged 8 to 18.
Award-Winning: The collaborative project won 1st place in the 2013 Resene Community Mural Masterpieces competition.
The Youth Team: Anna’s young crew included: Tayla McConchie, Samantha Bright, Tyler Greeks, Rose Peddie, Boston & Cooper Blomfield, Mia Vourdivis, Nikolees, Quintin, Jordan, Xavier, Punjeesa, Daisy, Ninna, Haques, Sacha, Jamie Halpin, Kezia Sainty, Shevaun, Peta, Sade Davies, Paris Crook, Hannah, Karla & Amanda Naude, and Sarah & Mellissa Albom.
