Business Whangaparaoa Inc was first seeded in the formation of Future Whangaparaoa Trust.
There had long been a need to represent both the local community and businesses on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, which is the largest "suburb" of the Hibiscus Coast but had in the past had a fragmented support network unlike Orewa which was represented by a BID, Destination Orewa and Silverdale which had a formal business association, Silverdale Business.
A period of consultation was undertaken with members of the community from approx. 2014 to 2017 with workshops and brainstorming sessions and the conclusion was reached to create Future Whangaparaoa Trust.
The Trust was formed formulated in 2017 with the Trust deed being registered on 13 February 2018 with the signatories being John Davies, Billy Beggs, Sarah Carr, Kym Burke and Becky Carr.
With a Community Activator also appointed in 2018, Sara Mason, to connect and operate the community aspects of the Trust, there was also a Business Activator appointed, Sarah Carr, to connect and mange the business operations of the Trust.
The Trust also subsequently applied to the Charities Commission for charitable status however managing a "business arm" to the Trust meant it potentially could be a profitable operation. It was at this time therefore it was decided to separate the community and business work and form a formal business association, Business Whangaparaoa Inc.
A small team of Future Whangaparaoa Trustees started to work on the formation of the new business association and work on a programme of awareness and support for the Whangaparaoa business community and Business Whangaparaoa Incorporated was formally incorporated on 6 December 2018.
