Business Whangaparaoa Inc developed out of an incentive of Future Whangaparaoa Trust to work in collaboration with the Trust, the Whangaparaoa Community Hub and local businesses to develop and promote business and community on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, from Red Beach to Gulf Harbour.

Environmental education is the focus of the Trust that Betsy chairs. The Sustainable North Trust (t/a Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste) has been working with Business Whangaparaoa on “The Green Scheme” for the past three years to promote businesses that take on climate change and zero waste actions. About 20 businesses, including Evelyn Page Retirement Village, divert food scraps away from landfill to composting on an organic banana farm in the City to Farm project. The Trust also manages the Council-owned, Whangaparaoa Community Recycling Centre and is supported by Hibiscus Bays Local Board to run an Early Childhood Education project called ECO-ECEs. Betsy is originally from the USA but is married to a Kiwi engineer and has lived in NZ for almost 30 years.

David completed highschool in Orewa and has lived in Whangaparaoa for many years, convincing Danni to move here in 2018.
Since moving and settling in the area the couple have been married here, had children and started a Photography business: Photo Carnival. This has helped build ties with the community and local business, David has also started an activity business with Escapism in Karepiro Drive.
